The town's new swimming pool was inaugurated at a ceremony held at the School Garden in Sárospatak. According to published information, the facility is being built by the Tokaj Hegyalja University Foundation. It will be operated by the Foundation for the Reformed College and Grammar School in Sárospatak – reports boon.hu.
The new swimming pool, with a floor area of 1,335 m², will be available to university students, college students and the residents of Sárospatak.
The institution will be built as part of the Tokaj-Hegyalja University's urban development programme.
As previously stated on the website of BuildEXT Kft., the designer who published the visual plans stated, the primary purpose of the new swimming pool is to serve the students of Sárospatak: in addition to university students, pupils from the Sárospatak Reformed College Grammar School and Primary School will also be regular users. BuildEXT designed the project using modern BIM (Building Information Modelling) methodology. The investment is part of the Tokaj-Hegyalja University's urban development programme, in which today saw the handover of the Lechner-designed central building of the higher education institution, which was renovated by „KE-VÍZ 21” Zrt. over a period of twenty months.
At the laying of the foundation stone for the Sárospatak swimming pool, György Wáberer, chairman of the board of trustees of the Tokaj Hegyaljai University Foundation, emphasised:„This project will greatly contribute to the development of the school. It will be a state-of-the-art swimming pool, offering the highest standards in terms of energy efficiency.”
Mayor Dr Szabolcs Farkas explained in a statement by the municipal government of Zemplén Médiacentrum statement that „the location embodies the values of the past and the mission of the present, where generations grow up in the protection of a community of knowledge and faith. I am delighted that we are expanding with an institution that primarily serves physical health and a love of sport.”
