For several decades, one of the most important events in Hungarian literary life has been the Tokaji Writers’ Camp. On 12 August, the 54th edition of the event series came to a close with a series of celebratory programmes.
This year, Dániel Berzsenyi and Tibor Pap were honoured with relief sculptures
As stated in the report sent by the Tokaj Writers’ Camp Association to MTI: László L. Simon, president of the Writers’ Camp, welcomed those gathered at the Tokaj Millennium Literary Memorial Park, after which a relief sculpture commemorating Dániel Berzsenyi, who was born 250 years ago, was unveiled, a work by Fábián Barát, as well as a relief depicting the face of Tibor Pap, who was born 90 years ago, created by Rozália Simon.
This year, the Hordó Prize was awarded to Vilmos Gál, novelist, historian and museologist, and to István Luzsicza, poet and editor. The Nagyhordó Prize was awarded to Ágnes Hansági, literary historian and university lecturer.
Those who have dedicated their work to Hungarian literature have been recognised with numerous awards
This year, the Grand Prize for Young Talent was awarded to Mátyás Regős for his book *Anya, segíts a századomnak*. The Debut Prize was awarded to Viola Huszti for her novel *Violencia*, to Máté Pirisi for his novel *Karalagu*, and to Tamara Usier for her collection of poems *Bordái közt a verdesés*.
The Hungarian Writers’ Association’s Patron Award was presented again this year at Tokaj: László Gelencsér, founder of Laterex, was this year’s recipient; in addition, the Tibor Tenkács Commemorative Medals were awarded for the first time this year to all those who took part in the camp’s activities.
