The 22nd Tokaj Crescendo Summer Academy and Festival (CSI) Crescendo Summer Academy and Festival (CSI) has begun; more than three hundred participants from all over the world have arrived for the two-week international masterclass, the organisers told MTI.
Students at the summer academy, which runs from 31 July, can look forward to a wide range of courses. Participants can take part in individual instrumental lessons, as well as courses in chamber music, symphonic orchestra, singing, opera and Baroque music, led by renowned Hungarian and international artists.
Free concerts
As well as the training, the event also offers a wide range of activities for performers and visitors alike.
The repertoire of the concerts ranges from Baroque to contemporary music, and from chamber music to symphonic concerts and opera performances.
Over the next two weeks, the programme will include, amongst other things, Mozart’s Symphony in A major (K. 201); there will be an opera evening featuring works by Handel; and the CSI Symphony Orchestra will perform Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7.
An important part of the summer academy is the series entitled Contemporary Music Moments, which is being held for the sixth time this year. This year, alongside György Kurtág, who is celebrating his 100th birthday, the works of composers László Sándor and Péter Tornyai will take centre stage in the performances.
The festival According to the programme available on its website , more than twenty events are being held Tokaj, and CSI participants will attend musical church services as well as concerts. CSI concerts are free to attend; donations are accepted at the venues.
