Luck in the city, the Hungarian-owned Metrinox Zrt. its new manufacturing plant at the end of February, which will be engaged in the production, certification and development of natural gas meters, including digital „smart meters,” wrote Index.
The facility was established on the site of the former sugar factory in Szerencs, which is symbolic in that it allows a formerly industrially active area to be revived as an economic centre.
Economic development of Szerencs
The company was founded in 2024 on the initiative of Hungarian investors – Status Energy Kft. and NRGWorks Kft.. In the initial period, production will focus on the certification of natural gas meters, and then it is expected to operate at full production capacity, creating nearly 50 new jobs by the end of the year.
What makes the factory unique is that it not only manufactures traditional meters, but also develops smart meter solutions that help energy suppliers digitise their operations, with the ability to transmit real-time data via the NB-IoT network. This technology significantly reduces the administration required for traditional manual reading methods and increases the accuracy of consumption data.
