Main Road 37 is one of the key transport routes in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County, linking the Miskolc area with the Zemplén region via Szerencs and Tokaj-Hegyalja, all the way to Sátoraljaújhely. Some 14,000 vehicles use the main road every day, making its renovation a matter of the utmost importance.
Dávid Vitézy, Minister for Transport and Investment, in his post, he explained that resurfacing works had been completed on a total stretch of 11.5 kilometres from Gesztely Sátoraljaújhely.
In addition to the resurfacing work, five bridges were also refurbished; furthermore, the verges and the drainage system were upgraded, new road signs were installed, and the outdated guardrails were replaced with safer ones.
Tállya was not left out of the refurbishment either
Also in the Tokaj region, the road passing through the village of Tállya has been resurfaced along its entire length after several decades. The side road had long been sunken and its kerbs were crumbling; now, not only has the road been resurfaced, but the surfacing at a pair of bus stops has also been renewed, along with the replacement of the road structure. In addition, the drainage system, road signs and road markings have been modernised.
The minister added that a total of 570 kilometres of main and secondary roads have been, or are being, renovated this year.
