On 31 May, children will once again take centre stage at Tokaj. Tokaj Fesztiválkatlan is hosting one of the city’s most popular family events, Tokaji Children’s Day. Admission to the all-day event is free again this year, and the organisers are preparing a colourful programme of stage performances, games and activities for families in Tokaj.

The event, organised jointly by Tokaj Fesztiválkatlan and Tokaji Cultural Centre is to provide children with a day full of carefree, joyful and community-based experiences.

A packed programme of events at Fesztiválkatlan

The programme begins at 10.00 am on Sunday 31 May, when György Posta, Mayor of Tokaj, will officially open the event.

Throughout the day, there will be a succession of children’s shows and stage performances. The audience will be entertained by, among others, the Gyerecsak band, the Pancsi clown, the Czabóka-Manóka show, and the spectacular FIDELA Dog Show. The cast of the Bohóckodók interactive puppet show will be there, and children will also have the chance to meet the characters from the Winnie-the-Pooh stories.

In addition to performances by local arts groups, DJ Graffy will be keeping the atmosphere lively all day long.

Play, laughter and shared experiences

The stage programme is complemented by a range of free side events. Children can look forward to face painting, glitter tattoos, craft workshops, balloon modelling and a giant bubble show, as well as traditional games, bouncy castles and inflatable play areas.

The Helen Doron language school is also taking part in the event, with a range of fun activities planned for families.

A sightseeing train will also be running

One of the special events during the Children’s Day celebrations will be the sightseeing train, which will pick up passengers at Fesztiválkatlan and travel through the charming streets of Tokaj.

There is a charge for using the sightseeing train, as there is for food and drink at the buffet and stalls within the event area.
