To mark the 500th anniversary of the nomination of János Szapolyai (I) as king, one of the highlights of the town celebrations to be held at Tokaj, will be a replica of the royal regalia, arriving accompanied by members of the Hungarian Crown Guard Association.
The Tokaji Museum Facebook page also features the full programme for 11 October. The celebrations will begin at the Tokaji Museum, where a replica of the Holy Crown will be on display from 12:00 to 13:30; then, under the protection of the Crown Guards, it will be escorted at 13:50 to the Roman Catholic church, where the commemorative ceremony will commence.
Following the mayor’s welcome address and the ecumenical service led by representatives of the historic churches, the guests will return to the Tokaji Museum.
From 3.00 pm, Szabolcs Demján, the museum’s historian, will give a brief historical overview, after which those interested can watch the film Az aranyvonat.
