The The Kerekdomb Festival is once again building on the values of the wine region this year, where, alongside cellar visits, vineyard tours and gastronomic experiences, concerts, theatre performances and family programmes await visitors between 18 and 20 September, in Tállya.

Wine region experiences

One of the main attractions of the Kerekdomb Festival remains the range of events linked to the Tokaj wine region. Visitors can gain an insight into the world of local wineries at several venues, through cellar tours and wine tastings.

The so-called wine guide will be available again this year, allowing visitors to sample wines from 24 wineries.

The programme includes the festival’s signature vineyard walks, during which participants can explore the wine region’s characteristics whilst strolling through the vineyards. In addition, there are opportunities for active recreation: running, cycling and rowing on the Bodrog.

From cellars to the stage

Some of the wine-tasting venues also serve as cultural venues during the festival. At the Szűcs Winery, for example, an indie disco awaits visitors on Friday and Saturday evenings, whilst the Palota Wine House will be one of the main venues for pop music concerts.

The Tokaj Art Wine Barka Gallery also plays a part in the programme as a multi-purpose venue, hosting concerts and literary evenings.

Concerts at various venues

The festival’s musical line-up is diverse once again this year. Quimby will be performing on the main stage, alongside a number of other pop and alternative acts.

At the Palota Wine House, the spotlight will be on hip-hop, with performances by Bongor, LIL4040 and Pavilon, among others. At other venues, the audience can look forward to concerts by artists such as Lóci játszik, Lenkke and Telehold.

Loophia and Fictional Heat will be performing at Nyerges Udvar, whilst Franny, Reni and Boka will be taking to the stage at the Barka Gallery.

Theatre and literature in the wine region

The festival offers not only musical programmes, but also theatrical and literary events. The Momentán Theatre Company’s improvisational performance *Főhős* will be staged on the main stage at Vincellér House.

The Tokaj Art Wine Barka Gallery will host a number of literary and musical evenings:

  • A programme by Anikó Für and Róbert Hrutka,
  • A reading by Dorottya Udvaros from the works of Endre Ady and János Pilinszky,
  • as well as a presentation by Imre Csuja and Gabriella Hámori.

The community centre is hosting a series of theatre productions. Among others, the programme includes The Son of Latabárné, directed by Zsolt Győrei; János Lackfi’s Medveles; and the play Lassan.

Classical music and church programmes

The Lutheran church will host classical music performances. The BenOla Guitar Duo will perform Renaissance and Baroque works here, and students from the Béla Bartók Faculty of Music at the University of Miskolc will also be performing.

The programme includes flute and cello performances, as well as joint teacher-student performances.

Programmes for families too

Mailloth Castle will be the hub for family and children’s activities. Among other things, there will be children’s yoga, children’s concerts and interactive workshops for the little ones.

The same venue will also be screening a selection of films from the Malter Travelling Film Festival, as well as hosting a musical and literary programme by Dániel Varró and György Molnár.
